Public Health has announced 15 new cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick.
The cases are scattered across six of the seven provincial health zones.
Nine of the cases involve workers who are isolating outside of the province. Public Health said their cases are included in the totals of the health zones of their home communities.
Four new cases were reported in the Bathurst region, three were discovered in each of the Saint John, Fredericton and Miramichi zones, and just one case was added in the Moncton and Edmundston areas.
The Campbellton region was the only zone to report no new cases Friday.
Six new recoveries were reported Friday, bringing the active caseload to 127.
There are four patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across New Brunswick, two of whom are in an intensive care unit.
Case found in Zone 1 school
The province said a new case had been discovered at École Notre-Dame in Notre-Dame, which is in the Moncton health zone.
The school remained open Friday for anyone who was not contacted directly by the province’s contact tracing team.
Fredericton outbreak
Public Health also updated the outbreak in the Fredericton region, which includes a lockdown of Magee House, an apartment-style residence at the University of New Brunswick, and George Street Middle School.
There are now 12 cases linked to the Magee House outbreak, up from 10 yesterday.
Magee House residents will be tested again Sunday and once more next Wednesday.
All tests have come back negative from the George St. school, and the school will re-open Monday if that trend continues through additional tests this weekend.
At Thursday’s COVID-19 news conference, the province said around 900 people connected to the school, including families of students, were self-isolating.
Anyone considered a close contact of the confirmed case will be required to complete a full 14-day isolation.
Vaccine progress
The provincial COVID-19 dashboard also updated New Brunswick’s vaccine rollout Friday.
The website indicates 35.7 per cent of New Brunswickers have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
An additional 12,500 doses were received Friday, bringing the provincial total to 310,995.
