A longtime business owner is running for council in the city’s Ward 4.
Greg Stewart’s campaign has focused on local support for small businesses, as well as financial accountability.
On his campaign’s Facebook page, Stewart said his 28 years of experience as a business owner, which includes opening Jake’s Steakhouse in 1994, has prepared him to make the tough cuts and decisions necessary around the council horseshoe.
The long-time east sider says he was “a firm but fair employer” and though he has no post-secondary degrees he learned a lot about work ethic and morals as an entrepreneur.
Stewart says he’s followed the city’s budgets and financials “for some time now” and he would make decisions with Saint Johners’ best interests in mind.
