For the second time in as many days, New Brunswick’s COVID-19 recoveries outpaced the number of new cases.
Public Health found seven new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, including two New Brunswickers isolating outside of the province.
The two cases in Zone 2 (Saint John region) are as follows:
- an individual 40-49; and
- an individual 50-59.
One is travel-related and one is a contact of a previously confirmed case.
The four cases in Zone 3 (Fredericton region) are as follows:
- two individuals 19 and under; and
- two individuals 50-59.
Of these, three cases are contacts of a previously confirmed case and the other one is an out-of-province travel case.
The one case in Zone 6 (Bathurst region) is an individual 50-59 and is an out-of-province travel case.
Since Friday, 10 people have recovered from the virus lowering the number of active cases to 113.
Eleven patients are hospitalized in total. Seven patients are hospitalized in New Brunswick, including two in an intensive care unit. Four patients are hospitalized out of the province.
New Brunswick’s vaccine rollout hit a new single-day record on Friday with 11,535 doses administered. There have now been a total of 349,662 doses administered, and 45.7% of the province’s population over the age of 12, has received at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Public Health announced just one new potential public exposure on Saturday. It occurred at the following location and date in Zone 2 (Saint John region):
- Circle K, 309 River Valley Dr., Grand Bay-Westfield, between 11:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7, and 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 8.
