Nancy Grant has won her second term as mayor of Rothesay with more than 92 per cent of the votes.
Unofficial results show Grant received 3,020 while her lone challenger, Liz Kramer, picked up 256 votes.
Grant says key issues in her mandate include local governance reform, completion of a new wastewater treatment plant, and the escalating cost of repairing the Rothesay Arena.
“I think it’s time we got public consultation and public input. Input from our residents to say ‘what do you want us to do with this arena,'” said Grant.
Other items she plans to focus on are the town’s climate adaptation plan, seniors, and additional outdoor recreational facilities.
Rothesay saw 11 people, including five incumbents, put their names forward for one of seven council seats.
Five of six incumbents are returning to council: Matt Alexander, Tiffany Mackay French, Bill McGuire, Peter Lewis, and Don Shea.
The five will be joined by council newcomers Helen Boyle (Boyd) and Dave Brown.
Incumbent councillor Grant Brenan was defeated.
Voter turnout in Rothesay was 37.79 per cent, above the provincial turnout of 30.35 per cent.
