Allan MacEachern has been re-elected as mayor in the town of St. Stephen.
MacEachern finished with 763 votes, according to the unofficial results from Elections New Brunswick.
His lone competitor, Vernon Card, received a total of 241 votes.
MacEachern said he was happy to get the support once again to keep moving the town forward.
“I feel good. I feel that the people of town have recognized the work that’s happened and I’m happy that they supported me again and looking forward to keep pushing forward,” said MacEachern.
MacEachern said he is looking forward to his next turn as mayor, saying he cannot wait to continue to help small businesses grow.
“Watching the entrepreneurs stepping up now, I want to keep being part of that. We’ve created a platform for them to want to take that risk and they seem to be getting supported so they’re all trying it out and there’s so many small businesses starting.”
All six of the town’s councillors were elected by acclamation. They include incumbents Phil Chisholm, Marg Harding, David Hyslop, Ken Parker and Ghislaine Wheaton, and newcomer Vic Thiessen.
Voter turnout in St. Stephen was 31.86 per cent, above the provincial turnout of 30.35 per cent.
