Marc Thorne will serve as the mayor of Sussex for another four years.
Thorne, the lone candidate for the position, was elected by acclamation.
Even though residents did not have to vote for their next mayor, there was a race for the town’s seven council seats.
A total of 11 people put their names forward, including five incumbent councillors.
All five incumbents were re-elected: Deborah Armitage, Eric Nelson, Tim Wilson, Graham Milner and Jane Boyle.
They will be joined by newcomers Danny Holder and Fred Brenan.
Voter turnout in Sussex was 29.21 per cent, below the provincial turnout of 30.35 per cent.
