Several new faces will be leading villages and rural communities throughout southern New Brunswick.
Ann-Marie Snyder has been elected by acclamation in the village of Norton.
Three incumbent councillors — Nicole Clement, Harold Keith and Jeff Gaunce — will be joined by newcomer Wendy Alcorn.
Voter turnout in the village was 31.44 per cent, above the provincial turnout of 30.35 per cent.
In Sussex Corner, mayoral candidate Wayne Wilkins defeated incumbent Steven Stackhouse by 26 votes.
Incumbent councillors Doug Bobbit and Paul Taylor have been re-elected, along with newcomers Catherine Macleod, Pamela Kaye and Robert Burgess. Incumbent Patricia Shay was defeated.
Voter turnout was 43.54 per cent.
Bette Ann Chatterton has been re-elected as mayor in St. Martins, defeating competitor Steven McPhee by 13 votes.
Incumbent Jason Garnett will return to council along with newcomers Marianne Langille and Mark Gallagher. Incumbent Preston MacDonald was defeated.
St. Martins saw 66.95 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots.
In Grand Manan, Bonnie Morse defeated incumbent mayor Dennis Greene with more than 81 per cent of the vote.
Roger Fitzsimmons will be the only incumbent on council, joined by Jayne Turner, Philman Green, Daniel Boyd, Gregg Russell, Jordy Leighton, Trish Toll, Joanne Brown and Cara Greenlaw. Incumbent Wayne Sturgeon was defeated.
A total of 58.14 per cent of eligible Grand Manan residents cast a ballot.
John Craig was elected mayor in Blacks Harbour with 67 per cent of the overall vote.
The new council will be full of fresh faces — Adam Hatt, Ashley Ritchie, Amber Libby, Gerald Welles and Jordan Thompson. Incumbents Mike Chase, Natalie Harris and David Mahar were defeated.
Blacks Harbour saw 55.84 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots.
On Campobello Island, incumbent Brett Newman fell to Harvey Matthews by six votes.
The new council will be made up of Alex Carroll, Kyle Fletcher, Elizabeth Butler and Dianna Parker.
Voter turnout on Campobello Island was 48.46 per cent.
