It appears Atlantic Canadians may be permitted to travel across the border to PEI, starting on June 27th.
That was the date outlined in the Prince Edward Island government’s reopening plan.
Their five step provincial re-opening document called “Moving Forward” was revealed this morning.
There will still be a screening process at the border, and a self-declaration form is required from Atlantic Canadian visitors.
Premier Dennis King says those with at least one dose of the COVID vaccine will be permitted with no self isolation, “On your self declaration form that you’ll fill out, there will be a box to check for your vaccination status, and you’ll be asked to prove by your screeners and testers at the border to produce that document.”
Those who have not been vaccinated, will still have to self-isolate, but for a shorter period than currently.
Premier Dennis King says there will still be testing, “We will still maintain that rapid testing at our points of entry as an added level of security for us. We feel that just gives us the ability to say on June 27th, we are open for business.”
King says he has been meeting with the Atlantic Premiers and he expects similar dates will be released in their reopening plans.
