The Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce is “very pleased” to hear the Small Business Recovery Grant from the province has been expanded to help more businesses dealing with COVID costs.
CEO David Duplisea said they were lobbying the provincial government to extend the program, which offers non-repayable grants of up to $5,000.
“But they have also changed some of the requirements. As you know previously this grant was not accessible when we went into yellow or green. This is now going to be accessible right up until we go green,” Duplisea said.
Duplisea said the chamber understands it has been a difficult year for businesses.
“It is one where many of our businesses have been able to pivot and have been able to survive and that is not only their incredible innovation and creativity but with the financial assistance as well from the federal and provincial government programs,” Duplisea said.
Applications for the second phase of the Small Business Recovery Grant will be accepted starting Tuesday.
