While exploring the province this summer, New Brunswickers are being urged to “find your moment.”
Staycations will likely be popular again this year since depending on the trajectory of the pandemic, the province may not open up to the rest of Canada until July 1 at the earliest.
Tourism minister Tammy Scott-Wallace says the provincial marketing campaign wants New Brunswickers to stay and capture the moments we have here.
“Hopefully that’s going to build a habit where people return to these attractions year after year with their families instead of always leaving New Brunswick to find them elsewhere.”
Scott-Wallace says last summer was incredibly difficult for the industry but she’s hearing some optimism this year.
“I really hope this summer we’re going to see a better summer than last year in that people are more comfortable to travel and to return to some of those places they either heard about or visited last summer.”
Scott-Wallace says the industry wants to be prepared when the doors open to larger numbers of travellers from outside the province.
She adds her department is working with operators on additional training opportunities for staff members and to promote tourism as a career path.
