Lots of concern from Canada’s opposition leader if rapid COVID-19 testing is not put in at international border points.
Conservative Erin O’Toole says it can be done in a safe, data driven secure way.
“This same approach, had the federal government not been so slow, would apply to cruise ships, and other things in the coming months…. that if Canada is by-passed, if we don’t have a plan, we will see prolonged economic downturn,” he says.
He calls the government’s hotel quarantine plan flawed with horrendous security breaches, adding visitors from COVID-19 hot spot countries should not be allowed in, since this is how variant cases have entered Canada.
“Non-residents would have to have a detailed plan as part of their entry. This is not rocket science, but sadly with everything this government has touched during the pandemic, it’s confused,” says O’Toole.
The Conservative leader adds Canadian citizens could easily have a quarantine policy at home, monitored by a health official.
