Investigation Continues Into Fort La Tour Fire

Saint John police continue to investigate a suspicious fire at the Fort La Tour historical site.

Last week, police shared photos of two people they were looking to identify as part of the investigation.

In a post made on their Twitter account Thursday morning, police said the two people have been identified.

“Thank you all for your information and the investigation into the incident is ongoing,” said the post.

Emergency crews were called to the site just after 2:30 a.m. on May 19 and found the roof of a building on fire.

Crews knocked down the flames within 20 minutes but not before they caused “significant” damage to the building. Police later deemed the fire as suspicious.

Beth Hatt, chair of the Fort La Tour Development Authority, has said they plan to rebuild.
