Now is your chance to try fishing if it is something you have never done before.
Fish New Brunswick Days take place this Saturday and Sunday across the province.
It is the only days that anglers can fish inland waters without a licence and that non-residents can do so without a guide.
But the province says there are still some rules that have to be followed.
Anglers who wish to retain landlocked salmon from 48 cm to 63 cm (fork length) require a licence with tags.
Current bag limits, closures, and other restrictions remain in effect. Access to private waters, Crown reserve waters, and Crown leases still require the appropriate licence and landowner permission.
Those whose angling privileges have been revoked are not allowed to take part in the event.
Participants are encouraged to check with a local fishing or tackle retailer, or with an experienced angler, to find a spot where they are likely to enjoy the experience.
In Saint John, the annual Fishing Derby at Rockwood Park coincides with Fish New Brunswick Days.
