Thursday marked another busy night for emergency crews in Saint John as they dealt with a fire and a water rescue.
Ed Moyer, a platoon chief with the Saint John Fire Department, said a small fire broke out on the roof of Market Square around 6:30 p.m.
“Crews went to the roof, extinguished the fire, and were on-scene for approximately one hour,” said Moyer.
Crews were then dispatched to Loch Lomond Lake off Loch Lomond Road, where a kite surfer had capsized near the middle of the lake.
“A water rescue boat located an individual and brought him to shore,” said Moyer. “The individual was unharmed but his vessel suffered a malfunction and he was left floating until crews rescued him.”
In a social media post, the City of Saint John said the man was brought safely back to shore before dark and reunited with his family.
