Could Tuesday be the day that pandemic restrictions start being loosened in New Brunswick?
Provincial officials are expected to provide an update on the Path to Green at 2:30 p.m.
Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province’s chief medical officer of health, and Premier Blaine Higgs are scheduled to speak.
According to one Liberal MLA, officials will announce that New Brunswick is moving to Phase 1 at midnight Tuesday night.
Guy Arseneault said in a Facebook post that we have passed the target for the number of eligible residents with their first dose of the vaccine.
Public Health has said the province needs to hit 75 per cent before restrictions will begin to be lifted. According to Arseneault, the province has hit 75.1 per cent.
The Department of Health has not confirmed what will be announced at Tuesday’s update.
The first phase of the “Path to Green” will involve eliminating the household bubble and opening borders to P.E.I., Newfoundland and Labrador, and parts of Québec and Nova Scotia without the requirement to self-isolate.
Cross-border commuters, truckers, and rotational workers would also be subject to reduced restrictions.
