Low-income working families in New Brunswick may now be eligible to apply for the Canada-New Brunswick Housing Benefit.
The short-term benefit will range from $300 to $475 per month depending on several factors including household income.
The program aims to support about 6,700 households over the next seven years.
Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“The objective of this program is to provide financial assistance to families to improve their quality of life,” said Social Development Minister Bruce Fitch.
“This joint effort between our government and the federal government will provide support to families searching for suitable housing and enhanced working opportunities.”
The provincial and federal governments are equally sharing the program cost of more than $98 million.
