The Gahan House Beer Garden has returned to Loyalist Plaza in uptown Saint John for its second summer.
“Last summer was really good,” said general manager Ben Tsang. “It was the first summer of COVID, so there were a lot of restrictions and a lot of people were pretty tentative, but I think this summer with things opening up it should be a good season.”
Gahan will be serving an array of drinks from local brewers, including their own beer. This year they have added more beers to their two-for-ten beer special. They also have some patio games for customers to try.
“Our friends at Yip Cider made some corn hole or beanbag toss,” said Tsang. “So you can come in, have a beer and play some games.”
On Saturdays, they offer beer yoga, where you can enjoy a brew after a yoga class led by one of Gahan’s team members. The construction near Market Square hasn’t stopped them from offering an outdoor space for the people of Saint John to enjoy.
“You can’t miss us,” said Tsang. “It’s a big circle with Gahan umbrellas, the shipping container, and now lights and picnic tables and patio games.”
The beer garden is open at 3 p.m. every day of the week, weather permitting. On special occasions like Canada Day or on Saturdays for beer yoga, they open at noon. Later in the summer as things open up they hope to put on some smaller events.
“I think everyone’s itching to do things outside this year, have a bit more fun,” said Tsang. “And we are still providing a safe environment.”
