The government of New Brunswick wants the new action plan for affordable housing to be influenced by public opinions.
A new 29-question online survey aims to gather feedback that will help determine the next three years of affordable housing in New Brunswick
The new plan will run from 2022-2025 as part of the 10-year bilateral agreement signed in 2018 between the provincial government and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Investments during the new plan will prioritize housing repair, new construction and affordability in the province.
The action plan for 2019-2022 was funded through a $62.9-million provincial and federal cost-shared investment. Housing initiatives under this plan include:
- assisting nearly 3,000 homeowners with housing repairs;
- helping to renovate more than 6,000 provincially owned rental units;
- contributing to renovations for more than 1,700 non-profit housing units; and
- helping to renovate 138-bed units in transition houses, emergency homeless shelters and second-stage housing buildings.
