Almost 34 per cent of New Brunswickers aged 12 and over have now received both COVID-19 shots.
More than 12,600 second doses were administered on June 29th.
“In the past week, our province has repeatedly broken records for the number of appointments booked in a day, the number of vaccines administered, and the number of people vaccinated in one week,” said Health Minister Dorothy Shephard. “I thank everyone who has been vaccinated so far, as well as all those who have appointments coming up in the days and weeks ahead.”
“If we can keep up our current pace, we will reach our goal of having 75 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the beginning of August,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “I want to take a moment to recognize every New Brunswicker who has rolled up their sleeve, as well as the Horizon and Vitalité health networks, participating pharmacies across the province, and all the health-care providers who are working tirelessly to keep our vaccination effort moving forward.”
Almost 78 per cent have received their first dose.
There were three new COVID-19 cases reported by Public Health in New Brunswick today.
Two are in Zone one, which is the Moncton region.
One is in their thirties and is travel related. The other, is in their fifties, and is a contact of a previously confirmed case.
The third case is an individual in their 40’s in the Fredericton region and it is travel related.
The number of confirmed cases in New Brunswick is 2,332.
Since Tuesday, four people have recovered for a total of 2,262 recoveries.
There have been 45 deaths, and the number of active cases is 24.
Four patients are hospitalized in New Brunswick.
Canada Day Vaccination Clinics Available
Health Minister Dorothy Shephard said New Brunswickers are making “impressive progress” every day in the vaccination plan.
She added this brings us closer to eliminating restrictions on the path to green.
Shephard says there will several vaccination clinics held on Canada Day.
“There will clinic’s available in several communities including Campbellton, Fredericton, Miramichi, Saint John and Tracadie,” Shephard said.
Based on Tuesday’s numbers, Shephard said New Brunswick is leading the Atlantic provinces, B.C. and Quebec based on the number of vaccinated residents who are 12 and older.
