New Brunswick’s Premier is encouraging everyone to reflect on the past and present today, and look towards a better future.
In a Canada Day statement, Blaine Higgs says this day has traditionally been about celebrating everything that is good in our great nation.
But he adds over the past few month many have been struggling to balance their pride in being Canadian, due to the tragic realities of the residential school system.
He says we need to ask ourselves how we can do better to build a better country for everyone who calls Canada home.
“Canada Day this year should be a time to reflect on our past and our present and look to a better future. This is a time to listen to one another, to learn from one another and to begin to heal.”
