No arrests have been made after a weapons complaint forced the evacuation of Regent Mall in Fredericton over the weekend.
Police were called around 4 p.m. Saturday after they say a firearm was seen following reports of an altercation.
Members of the Fredericton Police Force and New Brunswick RCMP quickly descended on the mall.
Officers with long guns drawn were posted at every entrance as Emergency Response Team members spent several hours sweeping the building.
At one point, several members of the ERT could be seen moving along the exterior of the mall in front of Sport Chek.
While most of the mall was evacuated, others were forced to shelter in place while police did their search.
Police said they have identified “persons of interest” from the initial complaint.
No one was hurt and there were no reports of any shots being fired.
