A 34-year-old man from St. Stephen has been arrested following an assault near Saint Andrews on Wednesday.
Police are looking for witnesses to the incident outside a home on Route 127 just before 6 p.m.
St. George RCMP and RCMP police dog services responded to the scene where a man took off and was arrested later without incident.
The victim was taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.
Ryan Beaumaster appeared in Saint John Provincial Court where he was charged with aggravated assault and mischief.
He was also charged with failure to comply with orders and breach of recognizance for an unrelated matter.
Beaumaster was held in custody with a scheduled court date on July 22nd.
