A coach with a New Brunswick swim club is heading to Tokyo next month for the Paralympics.
Ryan Allen is the head coach for Moncton’s Club Natation Bleu et Or.
He will be coaching five of the 19 Team Canada athletes, including Paralympic swimmer Danielle Dorris of Moncton.
“We head to Vancouver on August 2, and we will be staying there until the 19th. At that point, we will head to Japan and straight into Tokyo. We’ll arrive there midday on the 20th.”
Allen says this is the biggest event he has had the privilege of coaching at.
“Just the opportunity to work with other athletes and their home coaches, there are skills I will gain from that. Working with the national team coaches that are there with us, the staff, the doctors. I almost get more value working with the staff we have there that aren’t actual coaches. We have around 14 staff going for the trip. The whole opportunity is a learning thing for me, and I can bring those skills back and change my program and work with the kids we have,” Allen says.
The Tokyo Paralympic Games run from August 24th to September 5th.
Congratulations to Ryan Allen on being named to the Paralympic team staff.Félicitations à Ryan Allen pour sa…
