Soccer fans in Greater Saint John will be able to watch a bit more of the game in the city this fall.
The UNB Fredericton’s women’s and men’s soccer teams will play some of their home games in the Port City.
The REDS will use the Canada Games Stadium for four home doubleheaders between Sept. 26 and Oct. 29.
A portion of the team’s home BMO Centre turf in Fredericton is undergoing work while the remainder is available for training.
Jon Crossland, head coach of the REDS women’s soccer team, says he hopes they can get some new fans to showcase the teams and AUS soccer.
“We will be ready to go when the whistle blows and will play hard for 90 minutes wherever we play. Our location may change, temporarily, but our expectations and goals will not,” Crossland said in a news release.
The four home games in Saint John include UPEI on Sept. 26, Saint Mary’s on Oct. 15, Moncton on Oct. 23, and Mount Allison on Oct. 29.
The REDS open their 2021 AUS schedule on the road in Nova Scotia on Sept. 11.
