The New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS) agrees with a call from national health organizations for mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for health care workers.
The Canadian Medical Association and the Canadian Nurses Association issued a joint news release this week.
In a statement, the provincial medical society notes COVID-19 “is still present in New Brunswick, as indicated by the number of new cases over the past few days.”
They also note the highly contagious Delta variant can cause serious illness, especially for the unvaccinated population.
NBMS said health care workers who are in close contact with vulnerable patients are at risk of exposure due to the high degree of transmission.
New Brunswick doctors want everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible, especially since all COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
