AREA 506 says it will take extra precautions for this weekend’s shows following a potential exposure to COVID-19 this past weekend.
Organizers of the Saint John music festival say they were advised by Public Health that someone at Saturday’s show may have been exposed to the virus.
They say the individual, their pod mates, and any volunteers or staff who may have been in contact have been notified by health officials.
“We’re pleased to advise that the pod system & mobile ordering has been incredibly effective in minimizing contact & ensuring any exposure is limited,” the festival said in a Facebook post on Wednesday evening.
In announcing this year’s festival in May, organizers said tickets would be sold in six- or 10-person pods so attendees can maintain physical distancing and remain with their own social groups.
The event was also spaced out over five weekends rather than compressed into one to maintain smaller crowd sizes.
For the final shows this weekend, officials said all servers will be required to wear masks and attendees will be encouraged to do so outside of their pods.
