A Moncton woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in the brutal killing of a Riverview man in 2015.
Marissa Shephard, 25, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and arson in June after she appealed her original conviction of first-degree murder.
Shephard was also sentenced to three years for arson which will be served concurrently.
Baylee Wylie, 18, was beaten and stabbed repeatedly before his body was burned in a Moncton townhouse.
Two other men, Devin Morningstar and Tyler Noel, were also convicted in the killing.
Defence lawyer Gilles Lemieux told our newsroom Shephard will receive 1.5 days credit for each day served since she was apprehended in March 2016.
During her first trial in 2018, Shephard was found guilty of arson and first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
After her conviction was overturned in 2019, Shephard was due to stand trial this month before changing her plea to a lesser charge in June.
