New Brunswick Public Health reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
Officials say 11 cases were found in Zone 1 (Moncton region). Six individuals are contacts of previously confirmed cases. One is travel related and the remaining four are under investigation.
One case was discovered in Zone 2 (Saint John region). It belongs to a person in their 20s and is under investigation.
The Fredericton health zone also added a single travel-related case, belonging to a person in their 30s.
Zone 4 (Edmundston region) confirmed three new cases involving two people 19 and under and one person in their forties. Two are under investigation, while the other is related to travel.
It brings New Brunswick’s active case count up to 160 after reporting 13 new recoveries since Aug. 26.
Vaccination numbers
The province says 74.5 per cent of New Brunswick’s eligible population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Officials say 84.1 per cent of residents have had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
Out of New Brunswick’s 389 cases reported since July 1 new cases, 351 – or 90 per cent – were not fully vaccinated.
Anyone who hasn’t received either dose of a COVID-19 vaccine is asked to book an appointment at Horizon or Vitalite Health Network clinics or go to a walk-in clinic.
Three people are in hospital with the virus, but none are in intensive care units.
