The 2021 KV Music Festival returns to Vito’s from Wednesday to Friday after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vito’s owner George Georgoudis says they started planning the 15th edition of the festival in June and were confident that they could hold the concert even in a yellow phase jurisdiction while following government guidelines.
The entire Vito’s parking lot at its valley location is being utilized for the festival with the stage being set up in the back of the lot. A mini-food truck will offer grab-and-go food like pizza, donairs and chicken wings for audiences to snack on.
“We decided to do it over two days outside and open-air knowing that we will not be able to have full capacity,” said Georgoudis, adding they are keeping the physical distancing even with being in the green phase.
The Catherine Kennedy Trio, Signal Hill and Stephen Lewis & The Big Band of Fun are some examples of the live entertainment performing across three days.
The majority of KV Music Festival’s sponsors have returned, along with some new sponsors.
“That’s the beauty about living in the Greater Saint John area,” said Georgoudis. “The support is some unbelievable and the community wants to come together and make things happen.”
Each year the festival gives back to its community by donating sponsor proceeds and portions of ticket and liquor sales to a non-profit. This year’s non-profit is supporting MindCare New Brunswick.
“As a small business there’s a lot of self-reflection and having an opportunity to look deep down and see where what direction you have been going and where we should be going,” he said.
