It’s been a bad night for the Green party as they are down 4 percentage points in the federal election.
Leader Annamie Paul made a very early appearance at her campaign reception in Toronto.
Paul refused to take reporter questions about the early election results which sees the Greens leading in only one riding and the People’s Party of Canada picking up more support.
She told supporters and volunteers, “Enjoy your hard work and all you’ve done to get to this point. It’s going to be a long night. I’m personally very concerned to hear that there’s still polling stations that are open and that they will be open for hours because of what has happened. We know that our riding had the least polling stations, so it could be awhile.”
The latest results have the Liberals leading or elected in 121 ridings, Conservatives 65, Bloc Quebecois 25, NDP 17 and Green’s one.
Most major media outlets have called a Liberal government.
It remains to be seen if it will be a minority or majority.
