A free faith-based 12-step recovery program for any hurt, hangup or habit is adding a second location.
Celebrate Recovery, which has operated at the Kings Church in Quispamsis for seven years, will add a Saint John location later this month.
On average, 100 people attend every Tuesday at the Kings Church in Quispamsis.
It’s intended for people struggling with depression, anxiety or grief, not just addiction issues.
Pastor Adam Brewer said people need to see in person.
“I was a drug addict for years. When I showed up for the first time at a program somewhere else, I was blown away by the nature of this program and how welcoming it was,” Brewer said.
Brewer said this program has played a role in suicide intervention.
“I don’t want to say a total restoration. It’s a journey, right? People are working again. Their families are being restored. They are able to parent. Moms have their kids. Dads are actually being fathers and present in their kids’ lives,” he said.
Brewer said not being able to offer this program in-person during the pandemic showed the need for it.
Celebrate Recovery West starts on September 28th at 1496 Manawagonish Road.
