The summer season ends on Wednesday and fall officially begins.
Now, Environment Canada is expecting fall temperatures will be warmer than normal for most of the region.
“That’s going to take us right through until December, and in terms of precipitation we are expecting to see drier than normal conditions properly for the next month or so, and then after that things will start to normal out,” said Ian Hubbard, meteorologist for Environment Canada.
Although drier conditions are expected, Hubbard mentioned, the region could still see some significant rainfall events.
“Certainly in the fall, we tend to have some powerful systems come through, but overall compared to normal we’re expecting to see the total amount of precipitation to be below normal.”
Hubbard added for the remainder of the Sept. 20 to 24 workweek, the agency is expecting sunshine, until rain rolls over the region by the weekend.
“So, get out there, and enjoy the sunshine for the first day of fall.”
