It appears some New Brunswickers thought they could pull one over on the Higgs government and health officials.
The Horizon Health Network says individuals are attempting to obtain documents that falsely indicate their vaccination status.
“It has come to our attention that Public Health staff are being approached by members of the public who are requesting they falsify their vaccination record,” states a news release issued on Monday afternoon.
They add that the public should not contact any Horizon staff with a request to produce false medical records.
This statement comes less than one week after the province implemented new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, including proof of vaccination for most non-essential services.
Per the Government of New Brunswick website, an individual who provides false proof of vaccination or a false vaccination exemption is committing an offence and could be subject to fines.
“These offences would be a Category B offence under the Provincial Offences Procedures Act with fines ranging from $172.50 to $772.50,” states the GNB website.
