After a three-year pause, the Nova Scotia to Maine ferry service is coming back.
Bay Ferries has announced the CAT will set sail again between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor, Maine in Spring 2022.
“As with air service, restarting an international ferry route requires substantial upfront investment which is impossible to recover in a very short season,” Bay Ferries says in an update on its website. “Commencing in Spring 2022, we will restore service between these incredible destinations.”
Its last two seasons were put on hold as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2019 season was cancelled due to ongoing construction at the Bar Harbor terminal.
The province has a long-term contract for the ferry service with Bay Ferries through 2025.
