Correctional Service Canada will be reviewing the circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate at Dorchester Penitentiary on October 2.
Prison officials say it appears the inmate, identified as E.M., died of natural causes.
The individual remains anonymous to comply with a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of the victim.
The inmate began serving a six-year sentence in March of this year for sexual assault and acts of gross indecency.
Family members have been notified of the death.
