The New Brunswick job force added 6,100 positions last month, according to Statistics Canada’s September Labour Force Survey.
The gains are made up of about 4,000 full-time jobs and 2,000 part-time positions. Compared to August, the unemployment rate is unchanged, remaining at 9.3%.
September marked a positive increase for the Canadian Labour force, as an increase of 157,000 jobs places employment at pre-pandemic levels.
Similar to New Brunswick, national increases are heavily fuelled by full-time employment. These gains are spread between employment in the public and private sectors.
The national unemployment rate continues a downward trajectory, now sitting at 6.9%.
