New Brunswickers are showing less support for Premier Blaine Higgs.
According to a survey from the Angus Reid Institute, Higgs’ approval rating dropped from 55 per cent to 38 per cent.
The survey said the drop in approval is mirrored by the soaring number of COVID-19 cases across the province.
“With over 1,000 active cases reported in the province, hospitals have announced that they’re postponing some non-urgent procedures and moving their internal readiness level to ‘red alert,'” it said.
In June, New Brunswick was the first province to leave the Atlantic bubble, opening itself up to the rest of Canada before its neighbouring provinces.
Back in May 2020, Higgs’ approval rating stood at 80 per cent.
The online survey of 5,011 Canadian adults who are members of Angus Reid Forum took place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3. It carries a margin of error of +/- 2.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
