New traffic calming measures are being installed at a busy intersection in the Millidgeville area of Saint John.
Rumble strips are now in place approaching the intersection of Sandy Point Road and Foster Thurston Drive.
City officials said Friday that they are also working to install electronic radar speed signs in the area.
“Recorded speeds of vehicles in excess of the 50 KM/H speed limit, in combination with limited sightlines on the approaches to this intersection, initiated the need for these measures,” the city said in a news release.
Officials expect the changes will improve safety at the intersection — as long as drivers respect the posted speed limit.
