Nominations have closed for municipal byelections on November 8th.
Beaubassin-East and Petitcodiac will each be filling one councillor seat and Cambridge-Narrows will be electing a mayor.
However, Elections New Brunswick spokesperson Paul Harpelle says vacancies remain in the municipalities of Port Elgin, Saint-Louis-de-Kent and Lamèque.
“Those will now have to be included in another round of byelections which would be held in May 2022. So those were three additional communities that had vacancies and unfortunately no candidates stepped forward to run in those positions,” notes Harpelle.
In addition, candidates were elected by acclamation in the municipalities of Drummond, Kedgwick, Nigadoo and Saint-Louis-de-Kent.
One day of advance voting is scheduled for Saturday, October 30th and the polls will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The list of candidates running is available on the Elections New Brunswick website.
