RCMP say a 32-year-old woman has died in a collision between a vehicle and a bus carrying a hockey team on Route 8.
The crash happened Sunday in the community of Astle around 11:30 a.m.
Mounties say the woman from nearby Priceville was the driver and only person in the vehicle and she died at the scene.
The bus was carrying members of the Miramichi Timberwolves and the league said there were limited injuries on board.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist and the provincial coroner’s office are part of the ongoing investigation along with the Department of Justice and Public Safety.
The crash forced the closure of Route 8 for more than six hours on Sunday.
