Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe MP Ginette Petitpas Taylor is getting right down to work in her new roles on Cabinet.
As the new Minister of Official Languages, she’ll take part in briefings today after cabinet meetings, “My number one priority is to make sure we reintroduce legislation for the protection of Official Languages. There is a commitment we made as a government that the Legislation would be reintroduced within the first 100 days. Minister Joly did some tremendous work over the past six years with respect to consolations of many groups and the draft legislation that was prepared. I am looking forward to meeting with her, hopefully within the next week.”
Petitpas Taylor will also serve as the Minister for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, “It is the economic development agency for the area, and I am certainly well placed to know what are the needs and the challenges, and the priorities for the area. With ACOA, we have so many great opportunities in Atlantic Canada and we know with post-pandemic recovery, ACOA is going to play a major role in that as well.”
She says she plans to meet with stakeholders, and work in close collaboration with municipal and provincial partners.
