The Grannan Group has launched the Paul Grannan Lager in honouring the well-known Saint John restaurant owner’s legacy.
The lager was launched on the 20th year of Paul’s passing.
“We’re trying to think of something nice to have his legacy remembered, and it seemed very fitting to do it this way with the Paul Grannan Lager,” said his son, Chris Grannan, who also owns the Grannan Group.
Grannan also mentioned in an interview that his dad left an outstanding legacy on the Saint John restaurant scene.
“His first restaurant was in Saint John called Pier One back in the mid-70s, since then he went on to one’s he did before us, and after at least a dozen, if not more, food and beverage operations in the city.”
The beer is a light, approachable beer, at 4.7 per cent, which Grannan believes his father would have enjoyed.
“I think he would like this one, that was one of the reasons to (making) it a lighter lager … he sort of leaned towards lighter styles of beer, so this one was the one we thought would be the closest he would enjoy if he was still with us.”
The lager is available at all Grannan Group locations, and Grannan added other locations in Saint John have ordered it, and are interested in purchasing more.
