About 100 CUPE members could be seen picketing in east Saint John on Friday.
Chris Watson is a strike captain and the president of CUPE Local 380 representing custodians, bus drivers and maintenance repair workers.
He said the response from the public has been “huge.”
“We are seeing on social media- a lot of support. Obviously, you can’t please everybody and that’s ok. You know, the public is really on our side,” Watson said.
With some parents expressing disappointment the strike prevented kids from being able to wear their Halloween costumes to school, Watson said they feel bad about that and encouraged parents to bring their kids to the picket line for a treat.
Pickets could be seen at Loch Lomond Road and McAllister Drive and at McAllister Drive and Westmorland Road on Friday.
