The Horizon Health Network says it has activated its patient care plan at its Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, in Fredericton, Oromocto Public Hospital, Hotel-Dieu of St. Joseph in Perth, Upper River Valley Hospital and Miramichi Regional Hospital in response to the CUPE NB Local 1252 strike that was initiated today.
COVID-19 Assessment and Vaccination clinics in Fredericton are closed. The Assessment Centre in Hartland is also closed.
There may also be delays at the COVID-19 Assessment Centre in Miramichi for processing referrals for testing.
Horizon says it will continue to provide emergency and essential health care services to patients and clients throughout the strike, and emergency departments will remain open.
Longer wait times are also expected across the health system throughout the strike.
Visitors to all Horizon and Vitalite Health Network hospitals are not permitted. Some exceptions will be permitted on a case by case basis.
The provincial government says the strike is also impacting cleaning, supply chain, other vaccination clinics and COVID-19 screening in health-care locations across New Brunswick.
Laundry services
Strike activity is also impacting the delivery of laundry services in hospitals and some nursing homes in Fredericton, Saint John and Moncton.
Travel and transportation
Ongoing ferry service delays are to be expected across the province.
Education system
All schools across the province will move to home learning starting in Monday, November 1st. Students will continue to learn from home until the strike is over.
