President of the New Brunswick Medical Society Dr. Mark McMillan
The New Brunswick Medical Society is urging the provincial government and the Canadian Union of Public Employees to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible.
Society President Dr. Mark MacMillan is expressing concerns about the impact the labour dispute is having on patient care in the province.
He says some of the services, including elective and day surgeries, ambulatory care clinics, lab services and diagnostic/medical exams have been cancelled due to strikes.
But he notes that while some of them are called elective, they are still important.
Dr. MacMillan is also worries about the impact this dispute will have on mental health, with school disrupted and parents and children moving to home based learning.
