A domestic violence expert believes there were clear warning signs Lionel Desmond posed a risk to his family.
Psychologist Dr. Peter Jaffe has told the fatality inquiry he identified several red flags.
His review found Desmond demonstrated 20 well-researched risk factors out of 41 for domestic homicide.
They included childhood abuse, marital separation, unemployment, and mental health problems including PTSD.
In 2017, Desmond fatally shot his wife, daughter, and mother at their rural Nova Scotia home before turning the gun on himself.
