The 109th Empty Stocking Fund ensures children 12 and under have a joyful Christmas.
However, this year, organizers are reporting low registration numbers.
“We typically support between 2,400 to 2,500 children … (but) so far, we have 1,247 registered children,” said Patti Blake, coordinator for the Empty Stocking Fund.
“The deadline for registration is the end of day on Monday, November 15th, and many churches and agencies in the area will register children, but unfortunately some churches don’t open on Monday,” mentioned Blake.
On November 20, the Empty Stocking Fund will host a live Telethon from noon to 8 p.m. at the Imperial Theatre.
However, before it begins, Blake mentioned organizers need to know the number of children they will be trying to raise money for.
“The day of the telethon we always have great generosity from the public calling in their pledges, or donating online … so at 8 o’clock we have the big drum roll, and we determine how much money we have raised for the cause.”
