The provincial government intends to support $36 million worth of environmental projects through revenue from the carbon tax this year.
Environment minister Gary Crossman says the province is committed to being part of the solution to combat climate change.
Some of the projects include $10 million to support small modular reactor research and $3 million to fund NB Power’s Low-Income Energy Efficiency program.
Crossman says numerous projects totalling almost $200,000 in the anglophone and francophone school districts will bring the climate-change discussion right into classrooms.
Other projects being supported include the First Nations Energy Efficiency Program and a partnership to support innovation in clean technology.
The province also announced in July it was providing $2 million toward incentives to buy electric vehicles.
So far, New Brunswickers have received almost $370,000 in rebates for new and used electric vehicles and chargers.
