A blast of wintry weather could bring up to 20 centimetres of snow to parts of New Brunswick.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for a number of areas, including:
- Acadian Peninsula
- Fundy National Park
- Grand Lake and Queens County
- Kent County
- Kouchibouguac National Park
- Miramichi and area
- Saint John and County
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
A snowfall warning was also issued late Monday morning for Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick.
Snow began moving through southern New Brunswick on Monday morning and is expected to spread across eastern regions late in the day. Occasional strong winds will also lead to some blowing snow.
Greater Moncton could see 15 to 20 centimetres, while areas under the special weather statement can expect 1o to 15 centimetres.
The snow is expected to change to rain along the Fundy coast during the afternoon and evening, and there is a risk of freezing rain in the southeast.
“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations Monday afternoon and evening,” said Environment Canada.
The precipitation is expected to move out of all areas by early Tuesday morning.
