Residents in St. George will see their tax rate fall for the first time in recent history.
Council recently approved the town’s 2022 general and utility fund operating budgets, valued at $3.3 million.
According to a news release, the tax rate will drop by two cents to $1.39 per $100 of assessment.
Property assessments within the town increased by nearly eight per cent over the past year.
Part of that was thanks to more than $16 million worth of new developments.
Meanwhile, residential water rates will hold at $370 per year while sewage rates will remain unchanged at $165.
There will also be no change to metered water rates for industrial customers. They will be charged a rate of $3.31 per 1,000 gallons for both water and sewage.
